Taken together, the NDCs determine whether or not the world will achieve the long-term goals of the Paris Agreement[1]. If all the current goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions were met – and we don’t know yet if they will – this is likely to result in at least 3°C of global warming, despite the goal of the 2015 Paris Agreement to limit warming to well below 2°C[2].
