Due to centuries-long history of marginalization and colonization, indigenous peoples are nearly three times as likely to be living in extreme poverty compared to their non-indigenous counterparts[1]. The crisis in biodiversity is also entangled with the future of these unique and diverse cultures, knowledge systems, languages and identities.
